This week I interview Tony Long, the ex-Metropolitan Police firearms officer, who in 2015, was cleared of murdering Azelle Rodney in the course of a police surveillance operation in 2005. Three firearms were found in the car. The internal Met Professional Standards Department and the Independent Police Complaints Commission ruled that Tony had acted correctly, however, after a high profile public inquiry, Tony was then charged with murder almost ten years after the original incident. As if that wasn't stressful enough, the tabloids branded Tony "The Mets own Serial Killer", on the basis that Rodney was the fifth person that Tony had shot, and the third person that he had shot dead during his career in the firearms department.
